BitMouseDAO: A group wants to inject a Bitcoin into a mouse’s DNA

Are you ready for this? There is currently a project now raising money to put a bitcoin into a mouse. Literally.

The project is going to take all the blockchain code and then write it into the mouse’s DNA. And, yes, the rodent is going to be alive at the end of it. That little camper is going to wonder around with some $40,000 inside it because — why not?

The promoter of the project provided no real name and is identified only by an empty Ethereum address. Since the project was launched in Jan. 25 launch, out of its 179-ether target, the project has so far raised just a little more than 1 ether (about $4,000).

The project, BitMouseDAO, is a decentralized autonomous organization (aka DAO). It’s a sort of blockchain-based entity that is theoretically self-running, making its decisions based on how users vote and interact under predefined rules.

Do you remember the people who last year raised US$47 million in their failed attempt to buy a copy of the U.S. constitution at the auction house Sotheby’s? That was ConstitutionDAO. Shockingly, DAOs have become vehicles for all manner of collective organizing, and some more unconventional than others.

We have to wait and see if BitMouseDAO goes of the ground…
